The track team has an exciting year ahead. Many would debate whether this has been Long Reach’s most successful sport in the past couple of years. Right up there with women’s field hockey and baseball. The 2025-2026 Long Reach track team will be competing with the best teams in Howard County for a County championship.
One of the many reasons this team has a good chance in the 2025-2026 season is it’s many returning players as most of the featured players were juniors, sophomores, and freshman. Last year’s entire winning record-breaking team is returning this year. The For example the team that broke the school record for the 4X400M at 3:24.97 relay at Penn Relays last year. They’re all returning. Junior Matthew Saint Hillen, Senior Javier Hernandez, Senior Anthony Fonmedig, and Sophomore Jordan Etheridge.

They are all dedicated athletes that specialize in the 200m and 400m returning this year ready to break personal records (PR) and break their previous years relay team’s PR.
Also returning is Junior Recce Timothee for the spring season but not the winter as he elected to play basketball for his senior year. But his prowess will be back in the spring. Recce specializes in short distances, specifically the 100M. He set a PR and New Balance Nationals of a 10.7 which is very impressive for high school athletes. As he’s ranked above top 30 in the state.
But maybe the most impressive athlete of this track team is senior Kendall Hall. Our female team captain is returning for a hopeful season. Over the summer she committed to a D-1 track program at Rutgers University. So you know Kendall brings the heat to Howard County track. Her PR in the 400M is 55.01 seconds which is her best run and helped her get that offer.

Long Reach’s track team Head Coach is Tarryante Carter. She has an impressive resume herself attending the University of Alabama for Tra
ck and Field. She also attended Long Reach and says she wants to recreate what she experienced in her years. Coach always sees herself in her runners and spires to coach them with everything she got. She won multiple Regional championships for the female relay races. That’s what inspires her to coach and she wants to bring back the Long Reach Track and Field prestige as we always finished first in the country when she attended in 1999-2003. This team isn’t just built by a talented roster, it’s hard work as Coach Carter has been hosting summer track and field workouts. Every Long Reach runner has attended these workouts grinding in the heat and lifting weights. Overall Long Reach has a promising year ahead of them.
