School lunches can be hit or miss, but there are a few classics that everyone seems to love. Among all the options, three lunches stand out as the top favorites: the walking taco, the spicy chicken patty, and mozzarella sticks.
1. Walking Taco
The walking taco is a student favorite because it’s fun, customizable, and full of flavor. It usually comes with a bag of chips like Doritos or Fritos that you open and fill with taco meat, cheese, lettuce, and salsa. It’s easy to eat on the go, and the mix of crunch and spice makes it one of the most popular choices in the cafeteria. Long Reach High School senior, Amiya Singh, notes that the best part is that it’s very delectable in its variety ofin flavor. All food groups can be incorporated into it.
2. Spicy Chicken Patty
The spicy chicken patty sandwich always draws a long line. It has just the right amount of heat, and the crispy breading makes it extra satisfying. Whether students add cheese, pickles, or extra sauce, everyone agrees it’s one of the best and most filling lunches served. Long Reach High School senior, Kinsey Dunstan, describes the patty as “delicious and a luxurious taste”. Overall, any high school student would be lucky to get their hands on this delicacy.
3. Mozzarella Sticks
Mozzarella sticks are a comfort-food classic. They’re warm, cheesy, and come with marinara sauce for dipping. Even though they’re simple, they’re always a hit because of their gooey texture and familiar taste. On mozzarella stick day, most students get excited because they know lunch is going to be good. Long Reach High School senior, Fikir Haile, describes these crispy sticks as warm and cheesy, taming the beast of the belly with one bite. It would be a direct violation of cafeteria law if we didn’t include this on the list.
These three lunches remain the most popular because they’re flavorful, fun to eat, and different from the usual cafeteria meals. Whether you’re in a rush or sitting with friends, they’re the options students look forward to the most.
